Serbia's Infest interview done by Patrick 5-16-14

Here  is a new Interview  with  Serbia's  Infest  if you love early thrash metal with some death metal influence  you  should  get this right  away

1.Hello Vandal how are things going in Serbia for you these days? Please introduce yourself to the readers. When did you discover metal? who were the first bands you heard? Who are some of your current favorites?
V: Hails Patrick!Hails to all readers and supporters of your fanzine!
Things are goin fine, in two days we will start touring across Europe, presenting our new album Cold Blood War, which was released last month.
I have discovered it in the early days, when I was 10 or 11 years old, with first tapes of Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden.
Favorite...uh, thats really hard to answer :) Lot of them, but first of all, Iron maiden and then Slayer, Entombed, Grave, Unleashed, Dismember, Vader and many more...

2.When did you all get the idea to form "Infest" ?What is the current line-up for the band? For the readers who have never heard Infest how would you describe Infest's

V: I got the idea first time when I  took a guitar and didnt know anything about it. I was really young and I was to excited when I was wathing videos of my favorite bands, so with my first riffs learned on guitar, i knew that I will do it all the time...
Current line up were kids from my hometown, and we were totaly dedicated, and we were practising every day Iron maiden, Metallica and Sepultira songs, and in one moment i decided to start writing our own songs, and thats the moment when Infest acctualy began to work.
Infest is old school deathrash metal with no compromises. We play fast, laud and aggressive music.

3.How long did it take the band to write and record the new cd "Cold Blood War"? Does the whole band take part in the writing process or does one or two members usually write everything?

V: It took around 2 years to get in recording process. I am the main songwritter and music creator.
I prepare entire song, make a rehearshal with Zombie, put all the stuff together and when we are satisfied, i show riffs to Warlust and Tyrant, and then we practise it that way.

4.Who usually writes the lyrics for the band? What are some of the subjects you all write about?

V: Acctualy, I am the only one in the band who writes music and lyrics. We live in a time where the real values of life are lost because of religious shit, corrupted goverments, politics, terrible music promoted everywhere, wars for nothing realy important, then someones bank account getting bigger, so there are a lot of things that may inspire me for lyrics. But the most that I write about it religious influence on our state of mind, blind leaders and deaf followers. About getting out of religious chains and free state of mind.

5.How has the response been from the fans? What about the metal press?

V: I am always little affraid when we rrelease something new, but it was really great listening to people reaction on a new album. Also magazines and webzines gave us a great support. I read a lot reviews and I am really satisfied with the marks that we get there.

6.Does Infest have any shows or tours coming up? If yes where are some places you will be playing?

V: As I said in the 1st. question, we will start touring in two days, so were at totaly into it now.
We will make European tour with Panychida from Czech Republic, and tour in Slovenia, Austria, germany, Poland and Czech Republic. After that we have Belgrade show here in Serbia, and Italian dates for September this year.
Also we have a plans for German tour in October, together with Casus from Germany, but we are still in making plans, so we will talk about it when time comes for that.

7.Who are some bands you have shared the stage with in the past? do you have concerts you remember that you feel was the best one or two? If you could set up a dream show/tour who are some bands{Past or Present} you would love to share the stage with?

V: For me personaly, every concert have something special. I dont care if there is 5 or 5000 people in front of the stage.
when I start the first song, its like a wacken to me anytime :) We shared a stage with Keep Of Kalessin, Sodom, Kataklysm, Sinister Hobbs Angel of Death and many many more...
I would like to share a stage with Dismember and Bold Thrower :)

8.Vandal in your opinion what is the best and worst thing about the underground today? And what does the term metal underground mean to you?
V: The best thing is that offers you to travel a lot with your band and meeting a new dedicated people to metal music, real fans of metal, trading LPs, CDs and stuff. The worst thing is that internet destroyer real spirit of it. Now every kid download music.. I neved did that and I will never do that! Everyone can save some money, not to buy a beer, but to buy a cd from his favorite band....
And theats the meaning of underground to, trades, dedicated fans, real metal spirit...

9.Infest comes out of the Serbian metal scene what is your opinion of the Serbian scene?

V: To be honest, scene in here started to grow really fast. In one moment it was totaly out of the real road, but in the last 2 years it really started to grow.
We have a lot of good bands, and i think that people started ro recognize quality of it, and started coming to a shows..Our last show in Belgrade was sold out.. I was realy happy when i saw that, and it gaves me straight to belive in the future of Serbian metal scene..

10.Who are your all time favorite Serbian bands? Are their any new bands you feel the readers should check out soon?
V: Ou, hard one again :) Well, lets say like this...The Stone, Alitor, The Hell, Decrepancy, Space Eater and there are more than this, but can not write them all :)

11.Vandal you handle the guitars for Infest when did you first start playing the guitars? Are you self taught or did you take lessons when starting out?

V: I started around my 12 or 13 i think. I never took a single class :)  I always had some older friends who were playing, and they showed me some riffs, and stuff, then i took tabs and learned that way.and after that i started to cover songs and thats how i learned :)

12.Who are some of your influences/favorite guitarist?Do you play any other Instruments?

V: I play session bass guitar in The Stone. And my influences are Dave Murray, Chuck Shuldiner, Peter from Vader, Adreas Kisser, Tommy from Black Sabbath,...
13.Vandal you also handle the vocals for the band when did you first start singing? Who are some of your favorite singers?
V: I started singing on our rehearshals, because we could not find any singer. In the beggining, it was terrible, but after that i learned how to do it, and started getting better. So we decided not to look for the new one anymore hahahaha.

V: Zombie is playing drums in black metal band Simargal, and cross over band Deca Apokalipse. Tyrrant is a lead guitar in Soul In Cage and Warlust is a lead singer and bass player in Alitor. They are all real metal maniacs, totaly into music they make and play, as you can hear in the bands they are playing in, and Infest also.
15.When not doing band business what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
V: I am training wing chun kunf fu, so I am busy with that and gym, spending some time with family and friends, and there is always something to do :) I am a man of the action, so i will not be home, watchint tv for sure :)
