Interview with Ripping Death done by Patrick on 2-29-16

Here   is  a  new  interview  with  Ripping  Death   who  consists  of  members  from  different  countries   around  Europe. The  band  released their debut  demo   "Tales  Of  The  Ripper"  through the   mighty  Iron  Bonehead  Rec.  so  anyone  who  wants to  get this  demo  or  enjoys  old-school  death  metal  should  defintly   pick  up  a  copy today  from the band  or  label.

Interview with Ripping Death done by Patrick

1. Metal Hails! When did you first discover metal music? Who were some of the first bands you listened to? Who are some of your current favorites?

Horns Fucking Up Patrick !!!! We discovered metal music during the teenage years !!! There was no internet at that time !!! Only tape trading and real underground support !!! Most of our current bands begin their career in the past !!! MOTÖRHEAD, early MASTER, AUTOPSY, BLASPHEMY, early SODOM or REPULSION are just few names to give you an idea of what we like !!!

2. When did you first get the idea to form Ripping Death? What is the current line-up of the band?

RIPPING DEATH is a power-fuckin-trio consisting of Rick Disgrace (guitars), Angel Ofensor (drums) and myself, RR BASTARD (vocals and bass guitar). The idea of the bands came from Angel and myself. Indeed, for years, we had in mind to do something together and, considering our obsession for “Chicago 80s Death Metal” (DEVASTATION, FUNERAL NATION, early MASTER, SINDROME, early ABOMINATION and so on…), about one year ago we decided that it was the right time to start the project. So, I asked Rick to join our forces because I knew his passion for this kind of Death Metal and his guitar skills. He was really enthusiastic and joined immediately the band.

3. For the readers who have never heard Ripping Death's music how would you best describe it?

Pure fucking ripping death metal in the old-school-Chicago way !!!!! AARRGGHHH!!!!!

4. Ripping Death is getting ready to release their debut demo "Tales Of The Ripper" through Iron Bonehead Rec. How did the band come in contact with this great label?

Patrick is our friend since years so he was the first one that came in our mind for the demotape release !!! IRON BONEHEAD rec is the best Metal label in Europe !!!!

5. How long did it take the band to write the music for the debut demo? Does the whole band work on the music or does one member write everything?

Along 2015, Rick and me created the riffing and then we arranged everything together. Then in September 2015 we gathered in Italy at the infamous Mara’s Cave and in 2 days, the fucking demo was recorded! Everything went smooth and we were fucking surprised about it! It was like we had been playing together for years! What you can listen on the demo it’ s just pure and spontaneous Death Metal far from any kind of trend!

6. Who usually writes the lyrics for the band? What are some topics/subjects you all write about?

I write all the lyrics !!! The central topic is obsession for evil and madness !!!!

7. Ripping Death has a cover of Cianide's Rage War on the debut demo what gave you all the idea to cover this great band's song? Are there any plans to do more cover-songs on future releases?

We just choose all together to pay the right tribute to one of the most underrated US death metal band !!! They were prime mover and we are fucking proud to honour them with our cover song !!! Surely other covers will come in the future but nothing planned!!!

8.Speaking of future releases has Ripping Death started working on the next demo or full length?

We want to record new songs as soon as possible but considering that each band member lives in different European countries (Angel-Spain, Rick-Italy, Me-Germany) it is not so easy to arrange everything. However, soon we will start to working hard on new songs and hope to release something new in 2016 or 2017…Hopefully a full LP!

9. Besides the debut demo "Tales Of The Ripper" does the band have any other merchandise available for the fans? If yes where can the fans buy your merchandise?

Not yet !!! Hope to have some TS or something else out during this year !!!

10. In your opinion what is the best and worst thing about the underground scene today? And what does underground metal mean to you?

The best thing is that some bands (such as BLASPHERIAN or GEHENNAH just to give you few names) still play having the real underground feeling…the worst thing is that some other underground bands betraying their past to be more commercial as possible (as TRIBULATION or GHOST). Underground in the nowadays metal means everything !!!! Fuck off posers !!!

11. Are any of the members of Ripping Death currently working with other bands or solo projects?

Rick Disgrace plays guitar in IN LEAGUE WITH SATAN. Angel Ofensor plays in SACRIFICIO (and was also involved in other killer bands such as PROCLAMATION and DEATH SQUADRON). I played also in BESTIAL EVIL and BLASPHEMOPHAGHER.

12. Thank you for taking the time to fill out this interview. Do you have any final comments for the readers?

Bang your head in the name of the Ripper !!! AARRGGHHHHH !!!

Interview with Ohio's Gravewurm done by Patrick 2-20-16

Here  is  a   new   interview  with  Ohio's  legendary  band  "Gravewurm"  talking  about  their  newest  release  Doomed  To  Eternity   and the  bands  past  as well  future   plans. If you  do  not  have  a  copy  of the  bands  newest  release  either  contact the  band  directly  or  their  label  Hells Headbangers  Rec.   hope  you   like  the   interview  and  keep  watching the  web-zine  much  more  coming  up  soon

Interview  with  Funeral  Grave  vocalist  and  guitarist  of  Gravewurm   done  by  Patrick

1.Hello  how   is  2016  going  for you  and the  band so  far?

This year is starting ok, but we are still dealing with the loss of metal icon and friend Jim Konya. The maniac hordes whom have always supported Gravewurm have many positive things to say about the latest album ‘Doomed to Eternity. Cleveland winter sucks, but that is standard fare.

2.Gravewurm  formed  in  1990  what gave  you  the  idea to  form  this  band? How  did you  come  up  with  the  name  of  the  band?

We started under the name Dominion in an effort to combine our love for doom, death and all the darkness we could muster. The initial songs weren’t very good or interesting since we had just begun. In 1993 after a few changes, Gravewurm was chosen in response to more black metal and old school death metal influence. It is the name of the 2nd song from the 2nd album of Benediction. We spell wurm with an U to associate it with a winged mystical serpent. The umlaut was later added by Christophe Spadjel who created the official logo in 1998.

3.For  the  readers   who have  never  heard Gravewurm's  music  how  would  you  say  it  has  changed  over the  years?Who  are some  of the bands  that  influenced  you  and  Gravewurm?

We have not changed too much in style, but just strive at being better song writers. Goatlord, Nunslaughter, Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Sodom and Venom are the main influences.

4.Gravewurm recently  released their  new  cd,lp   "Doomed To  Eternity"how  long  did  it  take the  band to  write the  music  for this release?

I wrote all of the riffs and lyrics in a few months. Lord Mazillon (Jim Konya R.I.P.) added some ideas to a few of the songs and they were complete.

5.Besides  the  newest release  "Doomed To  Eternity"  is  there  any  other  merchandise  or  releases  available  for the  fans to  buy? If  yes  where can the  readers  buy  it  from?

Yes, the 2014 cd ‘Abyss Sorcery’ re-press is available through Forbidden Records and Hells Headbangers. HH also has several of our early releases on cd from Barbarian Wrath Records.

6.Does  the  band  have  any  shows  or  tours  coming  up  in  support  of  "Doomed To  Eternity"? If  yes  where  are  some  places the  band  will  be  playing?

Yes we are playing again this year.

May 28th Scranton, PA @ The New Penny
August 13th Baltimore, MD @ The Depot
November 11th Chicago, IL @ Cobra Lounge

We hope to book a few more.

7.What   have  been  some  of   Gravewurm's  most   memorable  shows  over  the  years?

Tampere Finland with Satanic Warmaster, Drowning the Light and Arghoslent 2009
Springfield Virginia with Destroyer 666 2006
Fort Wayne Indiana with The Lurking Corpses 2011
Wallingford Connecticut with Hraeslvgr and Arduous Task 2013
Orlando Florida with After Death and Hellwitch 2007

8.I  believe the band  played  last  years  Hells  Headbangers  fest.  how  do you  feel  the  fest  went  over all? Who  were  some  bands  you  felt  that  did  a  great set? Will  Gravewurm  be  playing this   years  fest  or  have you  all decided  yet?Where  can the readers buy  tickets  from?

Yea the fest was pretty good. I didn’t get to watch all of the bands, but I did enjoy BAT, Demonic Christ and Satanic Warmaster very much. We will most likely not be playing this year. Tickets for 2016 fest will be available soon on Hells Headbangers website.

9.In  your   opinion   what  does  underground  metal   mean  to you?

It is the human expression which defies all normalcy of life as defined by society.

10.Gravewurm   comes  out  of the  great  Ohio   metal  scene   what  is your  opinion  of  the  Ohio  metal  scene? How  do you  feel  it  has  changed   over the  years?

I have only lived here for a few years, but know some of the rich metal history. Like many other areas, it has good years and bad years. Ohio will always be great for metal.

11.Who  are  your  all-time  favorite  Ohio  bands?  Are their  any  new  bands you  feel  the  readers  should  watch  out  for?

Faith Xtractor, Acheron, Spawn of Satan and Crucified Mortals have created killer metal…and of course the mighty Nunslaughter.

12.Besides  bands  does  Ohio   have  any  good  labels  or  distro's  you  feel  the readers   should  check  out  soon? What  about  fan  or  web-zines  from your  state?

Hells Headbangers and Redefining Darkness are good. Not sure about zines.

13.Are  you   or  any  of  the  members  currently  working  with  other bands?  if  yes  please tell the readers  about  them?

New drummer also plays in Pittsburgh black / death legends Sathanas. Sathanas are one of the most consistent bands still active in the underground. 29 years and still going strong.

14.When  not  working  on  band  music  or  business   what  do you  enjoy  doing  in your  free  time?

Metal is life, death and beyond. Not much else interests me. Going to shows, meeting fans, making friends, discussing likes and dislikes, reminiscing about the 80s.

15.Thank  you  for  taking  the  time  to  fill  this    interview   out  do  you   have  any  final  words  for the  readers?

Thanks for the continued interest and support for Gravewurm. Fans of old school goat metal like Venom, Sodom and Hellhammer should check out our latest albums ‘Abyss Sorcery’ and ‘Doomed to Eternity’ which can be ordered through Hells Headbangers, Forbidden Records, Barbarian Wrath or directly from the band at

Coming    out  of   Singapore's  old-school  blackend death  metal  scene  is   Istidraj   talking  about  the  Singapore's   metal  scene  and the bands  past  and  future.

Interview   with  Istidraj    done  by     Patrick

1.Hails! please  introduce yourself to  the  readers  ? when  did  you  first  get  into  the metal  scene?Who  were  some  of the  first  bands  you   listened to?

Hail Patrick! I'm A.Inferno of Istidraj  answering your interview... I've been into Metal since 1988.. Bands like Old Slayer, King Diamond, Old Venom, old Sepultura, Sarcofago that possessed my conquest into this realm.. Once enter, forever burns!
2.When  did  you  first  meet the  other   members  of    Istidraj ?How  did you  all come  up  with   Istidraj    for  the  bands  name? Does  it  have  a special  meaning?

Its spark in late 1992, Basically we are a clan of outcast.. Similar interest of music which develop into a band.. I choose the name Istidraj meaning blasphemous/lifelong debauchery in arabic..
3. Istidraj    recently  released  their  new release  Muerte Mundi Militia    how   long  did  it take the  band to  write  and record the  music  for the  new  release?

We took about 2 years of composing  & 4 months to record it.. The result is satisfying!
4.Does   the  whole  band  work  on  the  music  or  does  one  member   usually  write  everything?

We work as a band.. Each band members contribute their parts in a way or another.
5. Istidraj    formed  in  1993    how  do you  feel  the  bands  music  has  evolved  or  changed  over the  years?Who  are some  of the  bands  biggest  influences?

Progression is imminent. Biggest influence are Sarcofago, old Mayhem, old Marduk.

We are working out on our upcoming mlp, which shall be done by end of this year
8.What  is the  best  and worst  thing  about  the  underground  metal scene  today? And  what  does  underground  metal   mean  to you?

The worst thing is that now whoever own a computer & internet they can obtain whatever they can via download, digital etc unlike the older days where printed zines, printed flyers, cassette tapes, vinyls, cds rules.. It's no longer obscure.. The best thing is now you can do promotion just a click a way... The obscure underground is gone nowadays.. No point of weeping about it!
9. Istidraj    comes   out  of  Singapore's  black/death  metal  scene. What  is your   opinon   of   Singapore's  metal  scene?

I don't care about the scene...  As we are always doing our own thing since the beginning till now & we don't owe the scene a fucking thing!
10.Who  are  some  of your  all-time  favorite   Singapore bands?  Are their  any  new  bands you  feel  the  readers  should  check  out  for?

11.Other then   bands   are their  any  good  labels/distro's  that you  could  recommend?
